About Our Program's Director:

Beth Franks has been teaching children for over 20 years. Her camp experience includes Gerstung    Summer Camp, Jemicy Summer Camp, Summer at the US Naval Academy, University of Delaware, and Essex Community College. She has a Bachelor of Science from West Chester University, and is certified to teach children K-12. 

Beth is presently head of the Lower School Math Department at Jemicy School, in Owings Mills, Maryland. Her former jobs include being a high school athletic director, teaching high school math, teaching 5th grade, teaching photography and coaching of high school volleyball, basketball, and lacrosse. Beth was Teacher of the Year two times and she was recognized locally by the Baltimore Sun Papers as “Baltimore’s Coach of the Year”.

She is trained in Orton Gillingham, Touch Point Math, Saxon Math, Project Read, Neuhaus, and is presently getting certified in Interactive Metronome Biofeedback. Beth is also a Curriculum Consultant for The Calvert Home School Program.

Beth presents math conferences several times a year, and has done so for the National Dyslexic Association in San Diego, Denver and Dallas. Her presentations are well attended at The Association of Independent Maryland Schools, Baltimore City Elementary Schools, and several private schools along the East Coast.

She is excited to be part of the Timber Ridge family. Beth joins us this summer along with her two daughters, Lindsey (16) and Taylor (14).
